Many French bands possess a certain touch of extravagance and this is also true for VEHEMENTER NOS. These artists combine rapid, melodic Black Metal with classical elements, fortunately not deriving from a keyboard. Therefore the group invited some guest musicians to the studio, namely Carolina on violin, Patrick playing the cello, Thibault (double bass) and the flutist Stephane. That way an organic and warm sound can be developed contrasting the fast as an arrow Metal.
Oftentimes the acoustic guitar comes into operation, the extra-long track Les Devastes features a few minutes of such a plucked passage. Over the course of this relaxed part the strings are added piece by piece. The device can only be to tune out, enjoy and let the notes sink in during these gentle elements. I do not bargain for a speed’s augmentation, but I should have listened to my agitated inner voice whispering: don’t halloo till you are out of the wood! Suddenly the speed changes from one second to another and the accelerator pedal is pushed through mercilessly. This contrast principle is adopted in every composition; a natural stress field creates an emotional roller coaster ride. Catchword composition: the detailed, headstrong and artificial precious works deserve this denomination by all means. It took VEHEMENTER NOS six years to let the songs maturate. The French lyrics’ tone color contributes additional self-reliance to the group’s extravagant appearance. Over and above the band experiments with the variable vocals, partly screeched, dark growled in guttural fashion and also chanted in exalted manner.
It is the best to listen to VEHEMENTER NOS unhurriedly; the detailed sound cosmos unfolds its complete grandeur using headphones. The Frenchmen feel good in every pace; they are able to create a fascinating atmosphere with the help of whispered sections, apocalyptic sound collages or bittersweet acoustic guitars and string attachments. Ingenious like the double bass drum and the flute complement each other or a sample boosts the strings’ effect. The music is difficult to describe, you simply must experience this vanguard, not easy to digest oeuvre! In the beginning I had some troubles with the awkwardly shaped tacks, but little by little I detected the illimitable depths and scope of VEHEMENTER NOS.
Would you like to go on an interesting and surprising expedition? VEHEMENTER NOS guarantee a trip to a progressive and highly musical universe! Admittedly these sounds’ enjoyment depends on sentiments extremely - the musical class is unchallenged without discussion!
