Sounding quite good at the beginning, already a few songs later this album turns out to be just another redundant and unsubstantial Black Metal CD with an unusual high nerve factor. TODTGELICHTER offer traditional Norwegian Black Metal, but they are very far away from what we use to call quality. Uninspired songwriting and unsuitable hysterically screamed vocals turn the listening to this album to one single catastrophe. If you now think, that it can’t get even worse, you haven’t heard the production yet. It’s a long time ago I heard such awfully treble boosted guitars. I think you can imagine, that such a sound won’t work well in combination with the constantly buzzing high-speed riffs.
TODTGELICHTER sound best when they’re playing a bit slower and when the vocalist refrains from creating uncontrolled whimpering and howling sounds. The band tries to brighten up the songs with some acoustic guitars and also piano parts, but facing the huge number of negative aspects, they can’t save the album.
