You just know
THE LUCIFER PRINCIPLE because of the self-titled
book by Howard Bloom? Then perk up your ears! The book describes
the beginning of human nature, in which violence and the evil
have essential parts. Five Dutch guys use this as a source to
create an absolute powerful Death Metal brew. When we talk about
Pitch Black Dawn we talk about their
debut record. First of all, let me tell you that they reached
to share the stage with acts like Napalm Death, Obituary, Devildriver
or Holy Moses. The reason for this can be found in the two released
demos since ignition in 2004. Respect! And deservedly so Pitch
Black Dawn imposingly proves. From the first second
until the last complex and elaborate detailed Death Metal is featured
that stands up from the crowd. While listening to the Rock’n
Roll dominated opener The Pitch Black Dawn one might
get the impression that these guys are Six Feet Under bros. But
the picture changes already with Into Decay – a
Death Metal crusher filled with variable riffing and drumming.
Because of changing speed and the variety of play this song turns
into a real wrecking ball. And what comes next is absolutely genius:
Soul Saviour Throat Cut is a fat Thrasher embedded in
Death Metal. Starting innocent, it rises up to a one minute fifty
dominated introduction before this song goes straight through
your flesh and bones. Every banging muscle will be in action.
Just listen to the solo-storm, fantastic! This track is a real
10/10. In turn the riffing of Feeding The Land Of The Dead
wakes up memories to several melodic Dismember hits. Down
includes a second voice which supports Erik’s mighty and
powerful vocals. Elements of Heavy Metal are incorporated again.
Five songs – five impressions. But the overall picture is
still round because of the named colors which complete the Death
Metal base. At least by listening to the last song – Burn
– one should realize this: THE LUCIFER PRINCIPLE
don’t use a usual E-bass, instead of this they a killing
with a stand up bass which is played by Mike Grunwald. Conclusion:
Every track is a small highlight and in combination with the clear
and mighty production Pitch Black Dawn
is the first big surprise in 2008!
