My goodness, THRONUM VRONDOR throw many different elements into the heavy metal kettle and stir vigorously! The result is an interesting, but not always comprehensible mixture with harsh tempo and mood changes.
After an obscure introduction called The Well, the musicians open up an arsenal of stylistic devices: highly melodic guitar runs, jagged blast beats and infernal cawing abruptly change to a complex melodic playing style in which the band shifts back at least three gears. This doomed influence creates a certain tension and the listener often remains uncertain about the further progress of the pieces.
Unobtrusively crazy voice variations pervade Ceremony Of Atonement, then the bulky riffing of the title track Ichor (The Rebellion) doesn't really want to be taken to heart because of the dissonant timbres - that's when rather slight feelings of anxiety arise…
Later, Deity's highly melodic guitars are accompanied by choral singing, so it's clear that THRONUM VRONDOR don't compose according to a scheme F. Unfortunately, good ideas like the successful motif at the end of Doom Upon Doom flash through too briefly to leave any deep traces.
The surprising performance provides a variable listening experience, but at the same time creates a distorted impression. In the end, a lot of impressions crack down on the listener, so a high degree of concentration is needed. If you are looking for a musical challenge that should be as unfathomable as possible, then try to decipher this conglomeration!
