I had to listen to this CD of these upper Austrian band a few times before it really elated me, because it is not as catchy as the previous album Bloodforsaken. The CD gets better and better the more you listen, because there are so many details you can discover. At first, the music of the band from Linz seemed to be more bulky than the other outputs, but it is more varied. THIRD MOON is not predictable and that is what makes them interesting. Each CD sounds a little bit different! The first song Dementia is already diversified – the introduction is spoken in German, an aggressive voice, a cool refrain (clean vocals) and an acoustic guitar solo in the end – it sounds really inventive and is well done!

The numerous use of acoustic guitars is outstanding (the reason could be new guitarist Dominik) and it is good for variety. But there are some songs for headbangers, too! A lot of cool guitar parts are placed in nearly each song, melodic and also heavy. In addition, a few keyboard parts enrich the musical spectrum. The guys from the THIRD MOON also dare to use some voice and guitar effects.

It is hard to name my favourite songs, at the moment I like Blood For Blood (with its cool chorus and beautiful acoustic part) as well as Decayed In Heaven best. Obviously Wolfgang improved his voice sounding more variable than before – just listen to Amen, where the vocalist growls and screeches alternately. Song 11 Forsaken, which you can only find on the special digipack edition, is THIRD MOON’s “rock-song”, but in the end it speeds up and gets really heavy.

Sworn Enemy: Heaven scores with long term effect and enthuses over a long period without getting boring! The beautiful packaging in a luxurious digipack with two bonus tracks is also worth mentioning. You can order it at the band’s homepage.
