Coolness,
kick-ass tracks, one-riff wonder, recognition value, variety and
pure entertainment – composing can be such easy. Seemingly
effortless THE ROTTED dishes a release having nearly no
rival in 2011. Old school influenced D-Beat Death Metal Ad
Nauseam should be, so the patient information sheet says.
This sound different and matches just partly. I have no idea where
THE ROTTED conjures up ideas but every track is a story
on its own, including high recall value fortunately. The English
dudes use nearly every stylistic device which seems to be useful,
and even if it’s such as simple. The basic chordal scrubbing
in Rex Oblivione turns out to be an absolute (high-speed)projectile
(this track is already a classic), the opener Anarchogram Sun
with its hookline and bass/drum parts is hard to be topped
in its coolness, The Hammer Of The Witches is carried by
an Amon Amarth melody, Just Add Nauseam renders homage
to the Grind-history of early Gorerotted (THE ROTTED rose
of), Apathy In The UK and Motörbastärds
practice hard to divine genuflections (and hard to fail to hear)
of THE ROTTED’s faves. It doesn’t matter if
mid-tempo or sporting up-tempo is played, not at least by the
vocals and the down-to-earth production Ad Nauseam
is a masterpiece in energy. At long last the demons in Put
Me Out Of Your Misery may tear you out of the spherical density
into another world deservedly. It couldn’t get much better.
