Everything gets better! As expected, the deficits of the debut Servants Of Justice are ironed out and I cannot find any weakness anymore: the riffs got sharpened, the staccato-attacks are intensified, the refrains disperse hymnal specialness and therefore care for a high frequency of direct hits.
After the nice Overture To A Falling Empire, shred-Metal at its best is unleashed during The Abolition Of Aquittal. Breathtaking joy in playing and whipping dynamics convince me immediately, ere the acoustic sledge hammer The Holy Bond Of Black Blood enthuses with a swinging and very concise guitar motive. I definitely want to sing along the felicitous chorus line while raising my fist to the sky or playing air guitar simultaneously. Stomping catchiness gets combined with gifted solos and THE LAST HANGMEN have time for a short breather, too. Some mighty stomping rhythms are intertwined in effective manner and show up as nice contrast in course of the insane hacking piece Defeat Of Despair; over and above, hymnal approaches and floating debauch come into operation, whilst the voice varies between hysterical screeches and deep growls.
I have no chance to catch breath and my neck is stipulated once again by the felicitous opening chord of ...Or Forever Hold Your Peace. This song shows up in intoxicating style and scores with well-done lyrics. Every now and then, the quintet takes more time to integrate different speeds and sentiments; during Downfall Of Glory, the groupinspires through overwhelming speed and unloading fret-board acrobatics. Last mentioned stylistic device is not exorbitant technical or overacted and sparkles with enthusiasm and abundance in melody.
Beyond The Crimson Nightsky creeps out of the speakers in mighty lumbering manner, slight Black Metal-influences and rhythmic variation form an effective alliance. A while later, the deceiving titled track Sleep Tight shows up quite epically with twin-guitar leads, a pinch of symphonic accompaniment, galloping measures and groovy parts leading to an intense finale. Rotten Seeds features an interesting Rock’n’Roll attitude because of the clattering middle part, the tune The Legion Of Sold Souls is enriched by an enormous drive and a steaming Heavy-Metal-solo – the guitar strings smolder and the jaws click down because of the pounding instrumentation. Finally, the last track Executing Takes Time turns out to be a downright surprise: sedate and throttled at first, THE LAST HANGMEN abstain from vocals totally and force the instrumental finesse all the more, so that the melodic esprit is unloading and gets combined with common rampant speed and hymnal augustness.
At large, Executing Empires arouses continuous exaltation by dint of demoniac attacks, razor-sharp world-class chords, contained elements, felicitous refrains and the exorbitant finish caring for an enthralling listening experience. I bow down before the hangmen, thanks for this delicious last meal!
