The band name
is already in use (the official Suede follower for example has
the same name…); the cover artwork drips of Gothic clichés
and the thin productions might frighten people off.
But fortunately, Fallen Certainty doesn’t
emerge as bad as expected. TEARS deal with Gothic
Rock just marginally, since their songs are settled more in progressive
fields. They are diversified, versatile and pretty quiet. Instead
of cinema-pathos a lá Nightwish songs work much more subtle,
underlaid by many keyboard lines and synthesized strings. Now
and then acoustic guitars break thru the wall of fat e-guitars.
Ok, songs are not made to get stuck in your ears and the powerless
production makes every run to something exhausting. Same for the
singing, but it suits well to the songs. Though, with Fallen
Certainty Greek-based TEARS deliver
a well-done demo. But I guess, it won’t be an easy task
to find the right listeners… Might be an advantage though…
