As a female-fronted
Metal-Combo from Finland one inevitably has to face being compared
with Nightwish (whether that’s good or not). And with their
current album Eras-Reveries even TACERE
can’t escape that.
In fact, the five-piece from Vantaa comes along like a „light“-version
of Miss Turunen’s former band. Technically correct, but
in my opinion much too hectic guitar-stuff and even similar to
Tarja, Helena Haaparanta prefers singing in the soprano-level.
Fortunately, TACERE don’t use as much orchestral-samples,
in order to get a chance to step out of that mighty shadow.
But nevertheless, after being played five times nothing changes
my impression, that this CD is getting on my harmony-spoiled ears
and nerves due to this „too much“ of arpeggi, screaming
guitars, double-bass-thunder and dramatic waste of chords.
Real inventions are hard to realize, but on Eras-Reveries
the band sets its focus a bit too much on both scholastic and
narcistic distinctions. Somewhere between Dream Theater and Nightwish,
there might be an audience, but I’m afraid, I’m not
among that.
