So, another demotape on CD with CARMINE, AMETHYSTE and ATROPHY from France and DARKLORD from down under. CARMINA have a quite good sound for a demotape. Typical death metal full speed ahead. Like always in this music style you aren’t able to understand the lyrics. So it doesn’t really matter that my French is too bad to understand them. AMETHYSTE follow in the same manner. They just continue where the last track of CARMINE stopped. It’s even more diversified than the other band, not as straight as them. I really like it. With ATROPHY the sound starts getting a little lower, but there are good ideas and some small melodic parts inside. The Australians of DARKLORD are pushing the sound up again. A nice intro makes me looking forward to upcoming things. Sounds like a lovely melody out of a horror film. Unfortunately that’s it with the sound. Everything that follows is only overdriven noise. My speakers just moan in pain and only my years of experience in these music styles tell me what DARKLORD are trying to do here. Seems to be some kind of black metal, but as I said only the experienced listener of black metal will be able to hear anything like music out of this totally overdriven sound chaos. Besides, the name DARKLORD isn’t even very creative. Therefore, just 7.5 Points. Full points for the 3 French and nothing for the Australian dead loss.
