After
SVARROGH's first demo Baxas Xebeshéth
1883 got quite often good reviews, I was really anxious
to listen to the newest work of this band. Until now, I always thought
SVARROGH would be a one-man-project by Dimo Dimov
as the main character, but when I looked on their homepage I suddenly
realized, that this band contains even five members! But that's
just some additional information about the band.
On this Black Metal piece you'll get to hear very solid played Black
Metal from eastern Europe. The intro on this CD-R already made me
a bit confident about the band's music style. The first song after
the extremely long intro, is a very powerful Track, which contains
many typical Black Metal riffs. It's sometimes interrupted by some
fine acoustic parts. Here Dimo Dimov is singing something in his
Bulgarian mother tongue. Sounds pretty good, but he should improve
his singing skills much more. But on the other hand the screaming
and grunting sounds damn good. It's often varied between high screaming
and deep roaring - that gives the album the necessary alternation.
The bigger part of Lady Vitosha is moving
in the mid-tempo area but there's also sometimes great blast attacks.
Now some words about the production, which is this time much better
than on the first CD. Although I don't know the debut CD, but I
read loads of reviews about it, in which was written, that the production
is really bad. But on Lady Vitosha you
can hear everything clearly and you can differ every single instrument.
The guitars sound very powerful how I like it. The drums (sometimes
they sound like a drum computer!) are not too much in the foreground
and the bass guitar also brings loads of power. Lady
Vitosha is a very nature-related CD! You will realize
that, by means of the great acoustic melodies that appear every
now and then on this CD. SVARROGH is a rather self-contained
band - that's why I can't compare them with another band.
So... Lady Vitosha is an absolutely impressing
album with a great appearance. This CD is recommendable to those
Black Metal fans, who like it sicker and more melancholic than usual
and who like to try new stuff.
