Quite well
done, Lord Esgaroth! This special guy is responsible for all instruments
and lyrics on Sadistic Goat Complex – and
he delivered a good job!
Symphonic
Black Metal is the master’s way and he attaches the bombast
in felicitous manner through the adoption of a violin. For me
personally, the arrangements arouse a too similar impression,
so that the light-bulb-effect is not present anymore after the
first three songs. Apart from that, I do not really like programmed
drums, whereby they do not step on my nerves on this work. The
compositions offer good quality continuously, but only sparsely
the sentiments or speeds get varied in drastic style. Other bands
can play fast too and they do their job in better way; consequently
this release only gets embossed by an outstanding touch, if the
violin steps in the foreground or the speed gets throttled. The
tunes are not arranged with above average suspense, but the created
atmosphere can elate partly in contrast to that deficit. The multi-instrumentalist
manages to disperse a mood like newer Dimmu Borgir mixed with
the horror sentiment of Morgul felicitously.
In short:
the build-up of thrilling moods and the competent instrumentation
boost the album above average despite all deficits in song writing
and the drum computer, but this is not enough to stick out of
the mass in my opinion.
