| With
The Equal Spirit we have received the latest
sign of life from the Taiwanese Power Metaller SERAPHIM.
I have the Chinese version here (with a lot of interesting and mysterious
signs), but on their HP (www.magnum.com.tw/seraphim) everyone can
easily find the English titles.
Like we already know
from the first review to The Soul That Never Dies
on Nocturnal Hall we can hear on The Equal Spirit
majestic Power Metal, which seems to cry Nightwish at every second.
The female singer is therefore of course a very important member
of the band and masters her role very, very good. She gives the
songs with her impressing voice a lot of character and emotions
and hasn’t to hide herself in comparison to Tarja.
The CD has not, as we could possibly expect, a very Asian touch
at it. It is more a dim, exotic shimmer in the music, than a strong
folk inspired piece of music.
Musically the songs are woven around the voice, which flows like
an angel throughout the CD. In spite of that, the songs are tightly
played on the point, which is very unusual when we see, that the
songs are very long. Obviously the male singing has become better
since the last time and sets a very good contrast to the female
singing with its rough voice.
Because of the fact, that in the first place Nightwish fans are
served her very well, I can’t recommend the CD to anyone else,
but fans of the Finnish band will find here certainly stuff for
them, as long as there is nothing new from the north.
