My first thought: SEPIA DREAMER is able to build up a relaxed but at the same time impelling atmosphere. The music floats majestically, varies only slightly, speeds up a little bit and contains lots of borne moments. “Hopefully the voice does not destroy this fine sentiment”, I think after a few minutes, but SEPIA DREAMER have no vocal artist in their line-up! Despite the missing vocal adoption the songs are not boring at all. The very long compositions are made for leaning back as well as for musical expeditions, because the group integrates some progressive elements. Every now and then I can feel a breeze of Opeth, especially in parts the emergency brake gets released and the band performs in easy-going and seemingly weightless manner.
Some really wonderful melodies enrich the overlong pieces, but SEPIA DREAMER is not able to fascinate me continuously. Nevertheless I think that The Sublime is a felicitous album which could play with contrasts a little bit more. The further deployment could be enthralling…
