Cool thing! There is a demo from Brussels coming in, that is full of power in its only three songs. The band, which destabilizes the foundation walls of the EU building with its third demo, is called ORB OF TORTURE. Stereolith is a Death Metal hammer, which shall enthuse every old school Death Metal fan as well as it address modern ears. The sound is not dusty in any way; this is already taken by the technical accomplishment of the three songs. The multiplicity of breaks lead to constant speed changes and the listener doesn’t know what is coming at next in the song. But besides some surprises there also exist some constants: Ben Olbrecht’s vocals are dignified growled at every time and drummer Jense Philips chops through the Stereolith in a very agreeable way free from supersonic drumming. To name some bands which could be the inspiration for the sound of ORB OF TORTURE won’t be correct because they can’t reduced onto one or two bands only. Ten Billion Unique Monoliths, Death’s Solemn Aura and The Pathetic Selector were recorded in the rehearsal room. The endmix was brought in by the CCR studios. Sure, there won’t be a rating for the sound because it’s a demo, but there is nothing to complain. This will be different in March 2008! ORB OF TORTURE will enter the studio to record their first full-length release. Watch out for this!
