After the
sensational comeback by Unanimated, the next monstrous release
of Swedish Death Metal shows up!!! At first I have to say that
the satanic image of NECROPHOBIC is overacted in my opinion,
but this is the only slight negative aspect concerning the new,
quite stereotype titled effort Death To All. Musically,
the artists present their work very felicitously, with a certain
touch to melodic and harmonic structures in well dosed moments
without leaving the aggression aside.
In the opener
Celebration Of The Goat, infernal blast-beats and intense,
partly hymnal guitar chords get combined in adept manner. Mentioned
track is played quite traditionally, ere a throttled part attaches
some irresistible dynamics to the tune. The Swedes add zest concerning
the vocal arrangements by using a choir. Despite these elements,
this starter was only a solid commence for a Death Metal feast…
Afterwards, the first real hymn is unleashed with Revelation
666. This song offers detailed composed Death Metal including
stomping mid-tempo, an impressive refrain, egregious breaks and
seemingly endless first-class riffs…I do not know how to
react…Bang my head? Raise my fists to the air? Listening
joyfully? Take care about my goose-pimps? It is a rollercoaster
ride till the end, a mixture of the most beautiful feelings a
music listener can get across! The concluding part is even more
sensational, because NECROPHOBIC celebrate a downright
conjured melody for minutes - and the sun rises…
Now the music speeds up again, though La Satanisma Muerte
does not forget about heroic atmosphere and choral adoptions.
In this case, the sentiment is more aggressive. Subsequently,
I am enthused by the striking song For Those Who Stayed Satanic,
which I interpret as homage to all fans, who stayed loyal during
the past years. In the song’s middle-part, the band speeds
up enormously without drifting towards chaos. The chorus stays
in my mind like a hook and gives me a feeling of correlation to
the artist’s intentions.
The melodic hell-ride goes on with the diversified tune Temple
Of Damnation, which gets interesting by an embossed break
with accentuated rhythms and choral-like nuances. For a bigger
part, unloading instrumental passages dominate; then Tobias Sidegård
comes into operation with his distinctive vocals in intense manner
and the gates to hell open in nearly inviting style…
In further course, the tracks The Tower as well as Wings
Of Death glow brightly because of the famous ingredients,
namely slumbering rhythm work and mighty structures, ere NECROPHOBIC
play their compositional ace: the over-long title track Death
To All. The build-up of suspense during 9 minutes is sensational,
the musicians disperse enthusiasm; drummer Joakim plays in alternating
style so that I really enjoy listening. In the second third of
Death To All the quartet plays to sheer intoxication till
the pretended end. Then one of these chords gets started which
awards immortality to a band – and the sun sets…
This stroke of genius concludes an album which bubbles over with
ideas and NECROPHOBIC show how suspenseful Death Metal
can be played.
HELL YEAH!
