This five-head outfit called NAMELESS from Italy has only one guitarist but two singers, whereas one of them growls and the other one is available for all other sound expressions, no matter if that are “normal” shouts, screams or clean singing. With it we already can contain the musical area. NAMELESS moves by a hair’s breadth on the edge between old Thrash and timeless Death Metal, without committing themselves to the one or the other side. Additionally some slow motion parts and acoustic passages can be found there always again, making the songs more diversified.
While doing so there are some good approaches to report, e.g. in parts of Eternal Slavery, which let a mature impression gleaming through. But sometimes the guys get in the way of themselves while integrating breaks with a crowbar and when the aimed mix bears witness for not having found the final style. Technically this CD is quite ok, sound is snappy and some slightly timing fluctuations, especially in the beginning of Fire, Walk With Me, range within a tolerable scope.
Fortunately, the entire piece does not sound much Italian, so that we can expect some more from this band in the future. This demo CD was released in 2002, so it’s really time to give another sign of musical life. Anyway, according to their website, NAMELESS seems to be very active but unfortunately not in English, so that I cannot report about latest events. At least, it seems, a new demo is under the way …
