Finland’s
own NAILED COIL strike back with their second
demo effort Embodiment Of Unconsciousness.
Heavy stuff the guys manufacture here, whereas the whole shebang
sounds quite inhomogeneous, impressing more with a darksome atmosphere
and yucky riffs than tight arrangements and coherent song structures.
Also in stylistic aspects it seems members still disagree. While
the beginning (and hidden outro) of Embodiment Of
Unconsciousness appears as a blend of crazy doomcore
with some thrashy riffs and industrial dashes, the guys start
to thrash in an old VoiVod-style on fourth track Bloodred
Dream Falls, ending up significantly influenced by Fear Factory
on last shot Irreplaceable Soul. Additionally the gents
seem to have a soft-spot for Meshuggah-like breaks but not really
able to set them well, while at least Death Signs is
a nerving blackout. The rest of the songs is ok, but need to be
polished.
Anyway, one can hear out in what direction these five young gents
tend to and that they try hard to find their own originality.
But to reach this high goal it will still take some time and pains.
However, NAILED COIL are surely not lacking of
musical skills and it’s not that kind of music to perform
perfectly overnight. In this respect I recommend: don’t
give up hope, promising approaches are clearly to discover …
