Memories Of A Lost Soul

If brutality at its best can compel you into a mood of melancholy then MEMORIES OF A LOST SOUL does that with their fifth release of Redefining Nothingness. Hailing from Italy these four creative souls deliver such a powerful array of soul stirring musical endearment that they take you on a inner journey. Atmospheric elements blended with harsh vocals that reach into the mind of the listener the rest of the group orchestrate a harmonious beast unleashing nine songs of well blended chaos.

Tantalizing the listening ear buds is the first track They’re Coming From The Stars starts with a melodic guitar intro as the vocals ease their way while the incessant drums beat a slow hypnotic energy that builds up. Vocal guitarist Buzz shreds his powerful strength while the rest of the group brings a front of symphonic quality within the realms of early Dimmu Borgir meets Rotting Christ influence. More of a track of quality than per say quantity that bands try so hard to replicate these days. Another example of how MEMORIES OF A LOST SOUL deliver is track four The Unspoken Dracula, which starts off with a beautiful synth keyboard melody then out of nowhere brutal vocals along with guitars, bass, drums drive the song into a charged tune. Parts of track four are touching yet hold something more melodically sinister based on the music as you can hear the operatic beauty through special guest vocalist Nefer Stria.

There is so much that can be written about why Redefining Nothingness would have to be an album worth more than just listening to, but having to see this band live would be something else. High emotional energy is felt within each song from beginning to end that MEMORIES OF A LOST SOUL are able to draw you in regardless of the mood or atmosphere. Take the last two songs Another Tale From The Mourning Star and In The Eyes Of Nothingness musically would have to be the strength of this album. Lyrically the songs are well written and composed that gives this band a professional presentation. Considering the group have been around over twenty-seven years with changes in lineup and musical direction, through it all that the band was able to keep true to who they are and their goals.

Overall the sound is well engineered and crafted that each instrument can be heard throughout, which is pretty awesome. Would have to say that MEMORIES OF A LOST SOUL is a band worth checking out and looking out for within the upcoming years! Excellent work for Redefining Nothing!!!
