Seattle, Washington. A new cult has risen, the West Coast Death Cult. A gathering of totally insane apostates known as MASTER MUSICIANS OF BUKKAKE brings its new religion to those that are open minded and likewise crazy ;) Master musicians… that you can take literally. Robed in wide raiment and deeply hooded under huge bee master hats these seven seers are known musicians that have their fingers in many and different pies such as Earth, Boris, Sunn O))), Grails, Accüsed… and heaps more.
Backslid in 2003 this loose-knit working “cosmic psyche force” released Totem One, the collective’s sophomore, which is also the first part of a Northwest trilogy.
Listening to Totem One leaves you in a state of trance, when droning guitars, occult ethno percussions and hippie-esque, Arabian-tinged melodies take possession of soul and spirit. Most pieces are pure instrumental trips, except for People Of The Drifting Houses and Schism Prism/Adamantios, where legendary Sun City Girls singer Alan Bishop adds an even freakier note to them with his voice. MASTER MUSICIANS OF BUKKAKE got me hooked and Totem One is the drug.
