“Always judge a band by its covers.” So said Al Jourgensen and with it he faces up the specialized press before saying thank you to the world for 28 years support of his band history on the forthcoming MINISTRY final tour named C U LaTouR. And which song could be more suitable as a last song of a cover CD than What A Wonderful World? You will get more about this in the end. So, don’t be a fool, pure cover albums could be dangerous when the tracks don’t satisfy the listeners. It is all the more dangerous if such songs are dished to a hungry pack as a last pressed sign of life. But Al Jourgensen won’t be the icon if he doesn’t know to solve this problem brilliantly. Ok, tracks like Black Betty or Radar Love play into the grandmasters’ hands and quickly rise up to Jesus Built My Hotrod level. Cover Up is additionally refined by these impressive co-conspirators: Burton C. Bell sings on the Rolling Stones track Under My Thumb, Revolting Cocks’ Josh Bradford provides vocals for Golden Earing’s Radar Love and Prong vocalist Tommy Victor lends his pipes to Deep Purple’s Space Truckin’ and Ram Jam’s Black Betty, who also features the Hell Paso Mosh choir. But these are already all. Further co-conspirators on Cover Up are: Paul Raven (may God rest his soul), Tony Campos and Wayne Static (Static X), Edu Mussi (Echoes And Shadows) and Plastilina Mosh. Besides the named songs MINISTRY celebrate Bang A Gong (T. Rex), Mississippi Queen (Mountain), Just Got Paid (ZZ Top – an awesome killer), the Roundhouse Blues (The Doors’ cover can also be heard on The Last Sucker), Supernaut (Black Sabbath introduced by George W.) and Lay Lady Lay (Bob Dylan). Every song is realized well till great for parties in best MINISTRY manner. But the coronation comes up with this: all tracks culminate in Jourgensen’s personal Punk Rock rendition of Louis Armstrong’s What A Wonderful World, his compelling way to embrace the world and say good bye. This is a worthy finale for an extraordinary person. Check out Al Jourgensen and MINSTRY whenever you still have to possibility.
