After
a short break METALIUM is back with a new CD and
new label to show. With these things in their back the are able
to sound on As One – Chapter Four
as if they wouldn’t have had a break at all. The trademarks
of the band is unchanged and clearly the voice of singer Henning
Basse. Together with the slightly pathetic songs a la German Heavy
Metal this gives together METALIUM. You realise
on the fourth CD that the songs are little bit more grown up, but
the special momentum is still missing, to step out of the shadow
of the own back program. As One – Chapter Four
does sound just like METALIUM has to sound, but
it is not enough to convince on a broader scale. The German band
does include itself in a long row of other bands who are releasing
very good records and who are technically very good, but who are
not able to release a Premium first class CD which gives you goose
bumps over all. Surely does As One – Chapter Four
have some cool songs, like the speedy Screaming In The Darkness
or the midtempo song Illuminated (Opus One), but these
are more like elements as a whole thing.
But it has to be said, that every friend of German Power Metal and
of older METALIUM stuff will surely like the new
CD, because one gets what one expect. Nothing more and nothing less.
But everyone who has heard enough of this and similar sound after
Hammerfall will surely not be convinced by the opposite.
