Well ... what can I say about Mercyless ? Admittedly, I just know
the bandname but I never heard any songs before. Unfortunately,
I didn't get infos and the official MERCYLESS
website doesn't work. What information I could get came from M.A.C
Prod's profiles (management ).
Apparently, MERCYLESS were founded 1987 in French
Mulhouse. The present line-up has existed since 1996 ( except
the drummer ). With Sure To Be Pure
the 4th regular album is available.
I would place this album in the classical Thrash/Hardcore area
of old heroes like Pantera, Biohazard and Machine Head. Directly
the title track Sure To Be Pure is a
grandiose aural attack.
The second track La Boca Amarga is in Spanish and sounds
very interesting at this backround. It's going to continue in
this usual way. Obediance sounds like a terrible coverversion
of something that's undefinable ( but it seems it's not ... )
and with Jail Of Flesh they have something like a ballad
on this album. Sure To Be Pure is a
steep and heavy production. The guitars sound up to date and have
the unmistakable groove of the new american metal scene. The keyboards
are kept in backround, discreet and merely support the sound creations
( but they do this very well ).
Unfortunately this kind of music was already there before and
has passed through the one or the other retort. Also MERCYLESS
have nothing to offer anything new in this respect. That's a pity
then I think it's possible to get out so much more. The musicans
know their stuff and have experiences of many years. But, stil
the disk sounds like any other new edition in this genre.
