Two deadly
hitting introductions can be used for this review: which musical
route of march one can expect from a band that covers Kill
On Command of the Bay Area Thrash legend Vio-lence on their
first official release, an EP? And: the old school Thrash has
reached the Emerald Isle! Both introductions complement one another
at best.
If one sends Creation’s Undoing back in time
to bring it before Thrash metalheads as background music for training
the neck muscles, these guys won’t be astonished about the
riffs and song structures. Bodies For The Slaughter, Manipulation
Evolution and Global Assassin perfectly fits to the
Kill On Command’s atmosphere. Only the sound would
be eyed critical while lifting an eyebrow and thinking: “doesn’t
sound like the usual 80’s stuff!?”. Whatever, keep
thrashin’ on and toughen the cervical spine. I don’t
know if there are any more bands like MASS EXTINCTION in
Ireland. It seems that lots didn’t found their way overseas
until now. But if there are such as those wrecking balls out there,
then they have to crawl out of the pubs to hit us with stuff like
this straight in our face. Or is the rest of the world responsible
that the old school Thrash was brought too late to the green Island?
This is to negate, because in the history of MASS EXTINCTION,
the five guys rock together since 2003, they opened for Exodus
already and when Irish Festivals have to be loaded with bands
MASS EXTINCTION is always to find on top of the billing.
But also in a package existing of Testament, Slayer and Vio-lence
Creation’s Undoing’s tracks would feel
homelike – a part of each of the bands is included. In this
respect it’s almost a pity that MASS EXTINCTION come
to light only now, who knows which path the band walked earlier
in time!?
