The first thing you have to know about the new MÄGO DE OZ release Belfast is, that it is no regular new record, but a cover- and rare collection. It is supposed to be a kind of Thanks from the band to the fans for their support. Beside “normal” cover version from Uriah Heep or Whitesnake Belfast contains also the “How-To-Learn-Guitar” Song House Of The Rising Sun or the Wizard Of Oz classic Somewhere Over The Rainbow in the classical MÄGO DE OZ touch. It is very interesting to see, how much the Spanish vocals and the fiddle are able to change the songs somehow, that there starts something totally new as a kind of symbiosis between the original and the new trademarks.
Belfast is not the best album to start for the MÄGO DE OZ world but a real bonus for the fans. People who don’t know the band should better begin with an album full of own songs. For the rest: Have a lot of Spanish fun with Belfast.
