Hey ... I know that ! New Six Feet Under tracks ? No ? ... hmm ... Morbid Angel Side Project ? Nope. But, Morrisound noise from Florida ... yessss !
With that you already have the most similarities to LOW BROW. At first moment it sounds new but it is not ... not really. Behind the line-up hide well-known mates, Allen West ( old 6FU - guitars ). But actually this band was founded by Rich Hornberger, formerly long-standing Obituary roadie. And because everyone knows everybody in this scene in Tampa/Fl. he still stumbled over three old Nasty Savage heroes - Curt Beeson ( drums ), Ben Meyers ( guitars ) and Richard Bateman ( bass ). Thus we have a nice bunch of experienced metal heads. At the buttons at Morrisound Studios worked not an unknown as well. This crusher was produced by Donald Tardy ( ex- Obituary drummer ) and remixed by Mark Prator ( Iced Earth ). But I have to say they didn't their job very well. They messed something up. The sound is pretty muffled ... anyway.
Musically you have to expect the typical Florida Death Metal, patternd after Morbid Angel, 6FU and also influenced by Obitutary. But they get to the point powerful. Alternate fast and slow parts let your hair rotate well. Drums are heavy and show to be the band's advantage very well. Just the guitar sound sucks a bit. Still Victims At Play has an unmistakable groove and knows how to please.
Unfortunately this album doesn't really show anything new. It's just a typical american Death Metal album even if the guys know their business. At best it's a living-cell therapy. But I mean also Morbid Angel didn't deliver any new stuff.
So, those who like this kind of brainfood should absolutely feast their ears on this disc ! Then this fare is not to be sneezed at ! I already can vividly imagine how brutal a live show could sound ... yeah ! So give them to us!
