Here they are again! The newest album of the Heavy Metal Sunny boys LIONSHEART livens up the world of the good old Heavy Metal. This time with none less than Steve Grimmet on the Vocals, maybe you know him from the great band Grim Reaper. Full of expectations I inserted the CD into my CD-Player... starts rather nice, but already after some seconds I was getting bored. It's the lack of creativity and the certain hymn-effect I’m missing, which mostly builds up a great atmosphere. Yeah ... that's what’s I’m missing, but what there's plenty, are a lack of drive, boredom and sob stuff like and
sometimes really ridiculous "love song"-like vocals. That's not what I relate with Heavy Metal. I think, the guitars must have a really groovy sound, there should be enough bass and above all the vocals must fit. Steve Grimmet DOES have a good voice and his voice really fits to Grim Reaper songs where he really does a great job, but his voice is not willing to fit here. The only thing I can praise now is, that the solos on this CD are really great and there are plenty! But apart from that nothing is actually good on that CD. The "recognition effect" is also not very high, and that makes it ineffectual, but I'm having respect of the work that surely is behind this work. But anyway... I'm sure I won't insert Abyss into my CD-Player that soon again.
