LAST MISTAKE - a band name one should not take literally. It is not that bad, not at all ;) These Italian guys joined forces in 1998 and have founded their style on the legendary 70’s and 80’s, influenced by bands such as Queen, Rainbow and Pink Floyd. Fuoco (Fire) seems to be the very first sign of musical life. And to make it clear: these guys have a sense for wonderful melodies. No matter if symphonic, bombastic, piano dominated or acoustic parts, melodies run up your auditory canals and get stuck. Especially second track Take Me Back emerges as something epic and monumental. First track A God! consists of same structures, most time focusing on pianos but the singing is terrible. Sorry, but the voice on this song does not work at all! As long as singer Samuel ranges within normal pitches everything’s fine, but as soon as he starts getting up his voice, it sounds wrong, hardly hitting any tone. That now and then happens on the second track too. This guy has to work out his parts much more. But he has a wonderful and expressive voice, so it should not be a hard task.
Fuoco closes with an instrumental, wonderful but based on a known theme.
Upshot: Promising band with an interesting sound.
