Character-tracks served by an enormous Thrash Metal cudgel hits you with full impact! Exactly this is the result and the recapitulation of several passes of KREATOR’s new iron Hordes Of Chaos. Telling many words about the band out of Essen/Germany is dispensable – the thing that counts is the music, and this is merciless Thrash through and through as played in their best times! However, it comes clear by this actual long-player, how important long years experience can be. Where other bands try to orient themselves or never find their own style, KREATOR can take a lot of ideas out of their comprehensive pool. Nope, they don’t try any experiments on Hordes Of Chaos like they did sometimes in the past possibly. Furthermore inimitable melodies and rhythm sections embed in the songwriting, which creates the perfect balance to the enormous potential in aggression. Songs structured intelligent knows to kill with sharp as a razorblade, the melody-lines matches as perfect as the tons of soli do. No, I haven’t praised KREATOR to the skies over the years but on Hordes Of Chaos one feels how hungry these dudes are! Enjoy such wrecking balls named Warcurse, Radical Resistance or Demon Prince and prepare for the icing on the cake, prepare for the final shot Run Amok Run. A track starting as a ballad just to let it mutate in a real Thrash monster by merciless riffing and pulsating drums. Not only in this track vocalist Mille burns out himself! His political critical lyrics dishes him tons of explosives sure enough again, a perfect base for his aggressive shouting!
The formula for success could be this one: Hordes Of Chaos is exactly rounded by the kind of production, KREATOR practiced just one time before, in fact the recordings to Pleasure To Kill. They canceled the clinical cultured sound consciously and thrashed in the basic tracks live in the studio. I don’t want to compare these two albums directly, but for me Hordes Of Chaos means to be the best KREATOR album since long-time. And at least no less than Colin Richardson was free to give this release the final mix.
All these characteristics are unambiguous documents for why KREATOR has formed the Thrash Metal scene in an important way and why they still belong to the Top! Hordes Of Chaos is an absolute must!
