Extraordinary
and independent are the first two words that came into my mind
about this really special work - and this is meant in a positive
way of course. I have heard a lot of good reports about KLABAUTAMANN,
and now, holding Der Ort in my own
hands, I can just agree with the rumours - here we deal with
a total special band. A band that makes me think about why categorisations
like Black Metal have to be made, because this badge can`t not
even rudimentally describe, what KLABAUTAMANN play.
Well, the prevailling mood and atmosphere remind me of Black
Metal, but it`s puttered with genre-unusual styleelements, so
that I can`t really approve this badge. The band creates an
enormous varity of emotions: while some songs piecewise bristle
with power and energy, they are fragile und deliberate on the
other parts, one finds oneself in a chaos of emotions, that
lasts during the whole playingtime of nearly 50 minutes. While
at the beginning they play it hard and cracking the tempo noteable
tempers with Red Urn and October, the last
song displays the complete change in style, including female
vocals in the vein of Liv Christin. Each song bristles with
imagination and variability - to live this album completely
you need to invest more then a few sweeps and a lot of attention
- for people who don`t want to spend a little bit of time on
an album, The Ort isn`t compatible.
I would like to thank the band for showing me, that it`s still
reasonable to search after pearls in the big metalworld, because
they do exist.
