The album title a critical self-evaluation? This work exhibition of old JAPANISCHE KAMPFHÖRSPIELE releases fails the title anyway. The sound of the old stuff might not reach the quality of their latest records but the songs were already great at that time. That means, humorous, grinding punk, chaotic hardcore and a proper dash of death metal from the early days, offering the perfect basis to devastate the neighborhood and to catch the cops.

This record contains 33 songs, 4 to date unreleased, recorded during the 1998 and 2002, sold out and, not to bastardize the authenticity, they are neither newly mixed, nor re-mastered.

The old stuff is:
Le Menu de l'Autopsie des Gagnats du Grandprix (1999)
Gott ist Satt (2000)
Sektion Jaka (1998)
Transportbox für Menschen (2000)
Nostradamus in Echtzeit (2001)
Oslo (2000)
Die Grossstadt stinkt ist laut und septisch (2001)
The 4 demo songs got recorded in 2002.

And as already said all songs rock as hell, run straight ahead as the stupid Schumacher and are of course quite mercilessly.
There are many gadgets to find in between, breaks and breaks, and breaks too, umpteen riffs, and even more riffs, quotes, and of course a bunch of lyrical lapses get thrown on the listeners head, for example: “… great, that there is no Technical Inspection Agency for music…”… erm, I let it un-commented now ;)
To pick the one or the other highlight from 33 is quite difficult, especially, since at this quality. Let me say, I like the tracks from the Sektion Jaka record most. Why? Because I think they are the ones most inventive, most varied and musically most thrilling ones.
The demo tracks bring pleasure too and almost a foretaste of what JAPANISCHE KAMPFHÖRSPIELE push to perfection on their grandiose album Hardcore aus der ersten Welt.

Ok, death metal freaks of bands such as Six Feet Under or old Entombed won’t be able to do anything with this stuff and sound fetishists will nag themselves to death, but the rest of this kind of music lovers that enjoy this uncompromising, demanding and diversified death metal music, cannot avoid JAPANISCHE KAMPFHÖRSPIELE anyways.

These guys don’t need to be afraid of any comparisons, but I actually don‘t get any plausible in mind to do so.

If they are live the way their records imply, then cheers!!! And a god night for bands that have to play after them.
Great! 10 points!
