Founded back in 2000 this Italian band called INSIDE serve us now their second demo release I Can’t Scream. Labeled as Heavy Metal this music emerges speedily as a brutal blend of Death, Progressive and Heavy Metal, enhanced with symphonic parts and progressive keyboard solos.
Singing gets shared between front woman Jessica and guitarist Ago, whereas the woman sings quite normal and sometimes reminds of Skunk Anansie’s Skin, never reaching her level of quality though. The guy growls his soul out of his body. Venturous duo, indeed. Admittedly, I like Jessica’s singing, especially on the refrains, when her voice gets layered.
All three tracks as there are At The Gates, A Grace From Deceas and In Silence are pounding out of my speakers quite heavy and know how to convince as a whole. Just the progressive parts and breaks need to be done much more sophisticated (especially keyboard solos). It all sounds too artificial and gives a bumpy and callow attitude to the music.
Sound and production are in general quite bad, despite of studio working. Singing rarely comes into its own, while the sound is dull. Though, INSIDE is an interesting band, worth to be checked out.
