Not
even 6 weeks after Once and Future King Part I was
released Part II hits the streets now.
Already the first song brings just what I missed a little within
the first part of this Rock Opera - some more speed - yeah! I
Wanna Kill The King - cool riffs, a sing-with chorus - this
is DEFINITELY a great start into Part II !
Unfortunately after this track the speed slows down again. The
next three titles are well done but simply again too idly. But
with Rise From The Shadows Once And Future
King finally increases the speed again and deliver
a cool song with superb harmonies, great rhythms and on the top
of this well-done female vocals. The schematic of Part
II is actually quite similar to Part
I, except, that Part II
is maybe a breeze heavier and faster compared to the first part,
freshing the sound and more vivid than Part I.
Another song to be mentioned on this album is Demon Down
- a rocking track with pounding rhythm and Hammond-organ. After
an instrumental called Deius it follows the best ballad
on this album - Without You. The final track on Part
II bears the same name as the album Once
And Future King. In the beginning of the song they
*ahum* “borrowed” a short part of the Phantom Of The
Opera theme for the piano, but except that, the song is a great
piece of music - full with feelings and melodies and for sure
a good finishing point for the second (and last part) of the Once
And Future King concept.
Whoever liked Part
I will surely be happy with Part II
since it is even a tad better than the first part and because
it is more diversified as its parent.
