A short but asskickingly rocking package of high energy Rock jack-of-all-trades Chris Black offers with the sophomore of his band HIGH SPIRITS. You Are Here picks up where the debut Another Night In The City was left off, a proven formula: Heavy Metal directly teleported from the heydays of NWOBHM, enriched with a proper portion of Classic Rock and a vast array of melodies; played directly to the point and produced with a warm and analog sound.
The seventies meet the eighties and start partying, having Thin Lizzy, Scorpions, Def Leppard and even Iron Maiden as guests. Songs such as The Last Night and Can You Hear Me spread an overwhelmingly good mood and invite to party and sing-a-long.
You Are Here might sound a bit naïve at times and it is quite noticeable that this album got played and recorded by one sole person. But it does narrow the listening pleasure only a little bit. While hordes of young bands rumble around, focusing on speed and energy, have HIGH SPIRITS more of the „spirit“ and most of all songs with recognition value. You Are Here is definitely the summer album for 2014. Period!
