After some
line-up changes HECATE ENTHRONED finally released
Kings Of Chaos. Generally the changes don't
influence the music so much, the sound is still typical HECATE
ENTHRONED - melodic - Black metal: fast, melodical songs,
of course supported by a lot of slow parts from their new keyboarder
Daz, who replaces Michael in a dignified way. In contrast to their
old singer Jon the new vocalist Dean has a deeper voice, so this
is their first album of which I can definitely say it doesn't
sound like a copy of Cradle Of Filth, but it doesn't change anything
on the atmosphere HECATE ENTHRONED bring with this new
album. Somehow it seems as if they want to sound like they are
playing in a big hall, because there are a lot of echoes and effects
which give this image. Especially on their song Malignant
Entity which starts with some reverberating bassdrum beats
you have the feeling of this special atmosphere. People who like
short, refined songs will find what they want, because with 11
songs just Repent exceeds a playing time of 5 minutes,
the length of the other songs can usually be found around the
standard of 3 minutes. Kings Of Chaos
is another well done release of the English guys and I definitely
don't hesitate giving them 8,5 points.
