The
1980s was the definitive metal decade. So many great bands, albums
and anthems came from this lapse in time. And here to remind us
of the good ol' days is GODDESS OF DESIRE. A name
known fairly well in Europe is finally getting some recognition
here in the states. After, 3 albums, a demo, and 2 videos, this
Dutch band is ready to set loose the fury of the Gods with their
latest effort, Awaken Pagan Gods. Back
in 1995, this band was started as something "fun" to do
on weekends; but, after many a successful show, they decided to
hark back about 5 years or so and pay tribute to the best metal
decade ever! Living in the 80s, this band brings metal to the metalheads!
Lets flashback, to
the 80s, and what do we get? Some of the most badass guitar riffs
ever! And now let’s go forward to now. What do we have now?
GODDESS OF DESIRE! And they bring those badass
guitar riffs to the future! March Of Metal, is a guitar
driven metal anthem sent from the Gods, thanking us metalheads
for this wonderful ode to the Heathen Days. Full of slamming solos,
harmony induced riffs, and shouts worthy vocals, Awaken Pagan
Gods, is a tribute to the good times. Dead End Street,
is a thrashing beat sent from oblivion. My neck is really starting
to hurt and we are only on the 3rd track! It's great to hear an
album that you can actually head bang along to all the tracks.
Now we come to the title track, track 6, and it is by far one
of the best tracks off the album. Awakening the Gods is what this
track truly does. It's also making me want more and more to go
to the ER and ask for one of those neck braces. Track 10, Booze,
if you plan on doing any drinking and headbanging, be cautious
cause this could very well make you not feel so swell. A bit faster
than the rest of the tracks, this is an anthem great for any bar,
party, or just when you feel like drinking! Now, sadly, we are
at the end. And closing out this incredible album is, Majesty
Of Metal. This whole album is nothing more than a tribute
to the best thing on earth- METAL! And here to show us that is
the last track. What a badass way to close out a freakin' great
album! All I am gonna say, is that this whole album is BADASS!
Now go buy it!
