I’m
really wondering! I know that Bay Area Thrash veterans FLOTSAM
& JETSAM had signed a deal to another label, so I
have no idea how Mausoleum Records got its hand on this material.
Anyway, it is a fact that this band that never gives up itself
and always again releases great records has deserved an outstandingly
manufactured live album, more than anybody else. And it is a fact
that Live In Phoenix is definitely not
such an album!
This CD continuously sounds like an average bootleg at best. The
show kicks off anywhere in the middle, sound is powerless, badly
mixed, guitars are way too quiet and the impact classics such
as No Place For Disgrace and Hammerhead have,
as well as killer tracks of newer date like Swatting At Flies,
Chemical Noose and Secret Square can’t
be displayed.
So I really don’t wonder that the band itself even doesn’t
mention this release on their homepage. The tracklist isn’t
that bad and all eras of the bands history get adequately considered,
but besides, Live In Phoenix doesn’t
offer anything else worthwhile to waste money on it (cover, booklet,
info .. etc. is quite lame). Only interesting for die-hard fans
that need to have everything completed in their collection …
