Good things
(hopefully) come to those who wait. Being slated for a late 2007
release, the debut record of Greek melancholics ECHOES THEREIN
GALE is still out of sight. It’s said that cover and
booklet artwork takes longer time as planned. An inconsolable
circumstance, since a hauntingly beautiful gem of dark ambient
sounds remains concealed.
Echoes In Darkness starts out cool, mysterious and
reserved with Echoes In Darkness Dissolve The Silence.
Nordic-cold sound collages and string arrangements rush flying
thoughts into deep sadness, take distorted guitars all hope away.
Foes Of Light Beautify My Solitude even intensifies the
lost feeling, although the sounds slightly begins to reveal more
and more positive aspects, a trend that continues with every track
like gaining victory over the winter when first sunrays free land
and soul from ice. Reaching a certain amount of serenity with
Silent Tears For The Sanguine Dawn, shadows still surge
behind, echoing dark thoughts, while melancholy longs for the
dark winter. It’s like an ongoing circle that gets closed
with In The Maelstrom Of Nocturnal Lust.
Only point of criticism is the snatchy transitions between the
tracks, a flow that gets corrected during the mastering process
I think.
