And how I hate doing reviews to releases that offer crystal-clear production, proper technical ability and surely songwriting-facilities, but nevertheless make me pore: alright, but is there anything special about this band? Actually not, is the only thing I can say in case of EMPTY TREMOR. This Italian Prog-act featuring At Vance singer Oliver Hartmann, demonstrates all attributes I’d expect from a professionally working band, however, fails to bring out the main points (like many other groups too). The six guys brew their songs from typical elements of Dream Theater-orientated sounds and garnish them with influences from Power Metal in the vein of Rhapsody. Here a epic part, there a few dodgy rhythms, then a bit of speedy stuff and some acoustic-parts, all ending up on an album that – and I must admit it – has some great moments to offer but overall fails with regard of own style and “aha”-effects. Far too 08/15 and “already heard before” is what most of the riffs sound like, really underwhelming. With their third release EMPTY TREMOR still seem to hobble far behind genreleaders. Worth listening to are nevertheless tracks like I Found You (with a great atmospheric beginning) and Who You Really Are (with cool final riffing). The rest remains second-rate...
