Cross
Your Fingers. This is how the debut album of EAT
THE GUN is called. The quartet indulges in the hard rock
and roll and flirts a bit with sleaze and glam but without becoming
whimpy. This band from Muenster offers a tasteful mix of Aerosmith,
Mötley Crue, Guns’N’Roses and Twisted Sister,
flavored with some elements from Motörhead and AC/DC.
The opener I'm Broken starts already with very heavy
riffs. But the first song of the CD is quiet tricky and the listener
needs some patience before he can enjoy it. But in exchange EAT
THE GUN demonstrate their rocking roots with Sweet
Loraine, Big Shot or Only The Bad Survive
often enough. Without talking about Get Sleazy, in my
opinion the catchiest and most packing song on Cross
Your Fingers. But there do not miss intensive moments
with the ballads, who remember a bit Bon Jovi, Black Hearted
and Slaves To Freedom. Here I must laud vocalist Hendrik.
During one song his voice is gentle like silk; in the next it’s
aggressive like Boltendahl. The album is also well produced, especially
because that’s a self-made production and it doesn’t
need to hide in front of any professional recording.
To make it short: real rockers must have Cross Your
Fingers!
