DORNENREICH’s music is not too hard to see through, but the two artists Eviga and Imre manage to create a fascinating atmosphere not comparable to anything with simple stylistic devices. In my opinion the pieces are more to the point and easier accessible this time, one indication for this assumption are the short and less extravagant song titles.
Eviga impresses with intense vocal performance as usual and the violin parts fit in the breathtaking sound scene perfectly. Acoustic guitars and heart-warming strings’ arrangements care for relaxed atmosphere, but DORNENREICH have the right feeling to integrate a slight increase concerning dynamics just in time to stay captivating continuously. Eviga whispers, nearly whimpers silently, hisses, sizzles and murmurs his stories on to the world; just sparsely the aggressive element in his voice breaks through and touches the listener all the more with its sheer intensity.
I want to highlight some songs as examples like the piece Unruhe creating a touching sentiment because of alternating guitars and violins. This composition demands and offers some aslope, unusual, partly hefty nuances. Afterwards the track Jagd, known from the acoustic tour, captivates through catchy lyrics and his dynamic structure. Two voices perform the interesting duet during the song Meer and the whispered introduction of Dem Wind Geboren features the most beautiful violin melody on In Luft Geritzt leaving an enormous impression.
DORNENREICH managed again to record an album with deep moods with the help of simple instrumentation missing out overacted and broad gestures. The album may function as relaxation but also for active and concentrated listening. The organic sound creation contributes a nice atmosphere to the tunes scratched in air. In the end DORNENREICH enwrap their artistic hard to capture bulkiness in traceable structures. Consequently it is easier for the recipient to identify with the sounds and lyrics. In Luft Geritzt displays a felicitous high demand and easy-going instrumentation.
Sounds…scratched in air, touching the ear and captivating the heart…
