DODSFERD!
Who could forget a band that puts out an album called Fucking
Your Creation? I know I couldn’t, so when I heard
of their recent release Spitting With Hatred, The Insignificance
Of Life, I had to hear it. Hailing from Greece in 2001,
it took them until 2006 to actually release their first full length.
With 9 releases within 5 years, it’s clear that DODSFERD
are unleashing all the hatred they possibly can upon our ears.
DODSFERD
waste no time with intros. Its straight to the hate with a track
graciously titled The Hate Goes On, and does it ever. It
is good, but not as good as the second song, Praying In Vain
Under The Shrine Of Your God. Starting out with fast beats
and blast beats and then simmering down to a mid pace and then
back to the fast beats again. The guitars are fast and dirty.
The vocals of Wrath are penetrating screams of atrocity and agony.
At times you can truly feel the raw emotion coming from them.
This song is very striking and the grimy hooks will sink right
into you. About five minutes into the song, it completely changes
and gets rather slow and melodic and the screams become more dramatic.
This carries the song to a whole other level. This is what makes
DODSFERD shine so dark. Everything about this song is just
all encompassing. The songwriting, the guitars, the drums…
the vocals. Amazingly the song ends after 12 minutes. Your
Kingdom Was Built In A Lie, starts out with a totally rocking
bass line and drum beat and then goes into total blast beat chaos.
DODSFERD likes to weave in and out of black metal and rock.
It is amazing how they bring these two elements together to create
a sound all their own. They do this so smoothly that only the
most seasoned ears would pick up on it. This is an amazing album
to listen to when you are feeling pissed off and isolated from
this world. Basically because of all the emotion both the music
and lyrics conjure up. The title track Spitting With Hatred,
The Insignificance Of Life is another DODSFERD masterpiece.
With a sullen riff opening the track combined with Wrath’s
filthy hateful screams we are in for another ride of midpaced
to furiously fast animosity. We get to the last song all too quickly
for my liking. With a title like A Pile Of Shit; The Only Hope
For Your World, one has to laugh. However listening to the
song is no laughing matter. With a sharp fast riffs and equally
fast drum beats that turn to blast beats and then suddenly change
to a steady march. These elements make DODSFERD interesting.
The songs on Spitting With Hatred, The Insignificance Of
Life, never gets redundant or stale. The songs don’t
sound alike and even though they are quite lengthy there are enough
changes within them to keep your attention.
