That DISBELIEF is one of my alltime faves is no secret. That DISBELIEF have only released masterpieces right from the debut album on, is no secret either. But what is still a secret, is why Germany’s finest Death Metal extremists did not achieve the well-deserved breakthrough yet.
DISBELIEF have long found their very own and unique style. They stand for themselves, only. They are idols and the ones all other bands from the genre get compared with.
Now DISBELIEF release their eighth record entitled Protected Hell. And it is again a masterpiece! 10 out of 10 points. Outright! No ifs, ands, or buts! I even would like to state that Protected Hell is the band’s most outstanding record in their almost 20 years spanning history.
Protected Hell kicks of quiet with an acoustic intro entitled Hell, leading over to A Place To Hide to let close in hell literally. Despite of high-speed aggressions such as Hell Goes On this new record is probably the most melancholic and melodious one, yet riding on the same high level of brutal intensity as always. Psychotic, all destroying, lyrically as well as musically. Every song is a highlight, a gem of excellent musicianship. Every songs creeps under your skin, touches you deeply. Guitar work is unique and intriguing, all riffs bone-crushing. Same goes for the unbelievably voice of Karsten “Jagger” Jäger, which is not from this world, and again has redefined itself on this record. Better than ever before! As already said: Protected Hell is a masterpiece! Album of the month! Album of the year!
