Demolition Hammer‘s Epidemic Of Violence, the more thrashy albums of Malevolent Creation or recently the new Create A Kill are reasons why I absolutely dig Death/Thrash Metal. So I was keen on hearing what DESCENDENCY have to offer. In short, Generate The Genocide is not a bad album. They offer an old school sounding album that could have been released in the times of the classics. Really enjoyable when they speed up the tempo or add some interesting longer instrumental sections like in Arduous March or the awesome instrumental Hate Prop 1.98-4. The vocals are aggressive but a bit monotonous and my main problem with Generate The Genocide is the lack of really memorable moments. DESCENDENCY often lose momentum, as the songs tend to end up in mid-tempo quite often. For my taste, there should be more relentless speed and less repetitive guitar riffs. While listening I‘m often reminded of the later Mortification albums as the vocals sound similar and I found these a bit boring, too. As I said, it‘s not bad but I think the band has potential for more. Keep on thrashin‘!
