DEMONBREED emerged from the ashes of the formidable LAY DOWN ROTTEN and the many years of experience can be heard on every note of this appetizer.
In variable speed, which performs from throttled parts to moderately furious frenzy a variety of powerful acoustic weapons in the arsenal, the quartet flattens precisely and with broad chest in self-evident looseness any resistance without effort.
The groove speaks a weighty word from the very beginning and the necessary injection of harmony is provided by beautiful leads, which often stay pleasantly in the background. An ominous pregnant mood is evoked by heavy grinding rhythms, whereby the band neglects the power of the word a little and has no completely brilliant classic refrains in their repertoire. The fourth track Suprema has definitely got the hang of it, convinces with an exciting structure and catchy twists. The same is true for the title track Hunting Heretics, which really inspires with its driving structures, lively melodies and sing along compatible parts.
Genre-typical growls, clattering riffs and variable vehemence offer tasty food for every Death Metal freak and at the end of Hunting Heretics a good but not completely enthusiastic impression remains, because I miss crowning choruses and the band only reaches top form towards the end.
