Let’s lean back and enjoy the calm Prelude To Perdition… but the deceptive silence does not last long, because from now on Death/Thrash with some nice harmonies, but not that nice vocals, dominates the scenery. Whilst The Monster To Create stays palish and only counts with Carcass-like background harmonies, the next tune Laid To Waste shows more dynamics through an adeptly integrated breather. The eerie piece Hell If I Care is unleashed in quite captivating manner, whereby the apocalyptic mood is presented felicitously with a contained part as well as continuous grooving sequences. A while later, the rapid Thunderbolt seems to be transformed from the eighties, ere the heavy grooving DB13 brings us back to present age and delights with a formative guitar solo.
The Only Good Samaritan is characterized by a fine grasp for melody, but I miss concise changes of mood or exciting refrains. DEAD SAMARITAN definitely know how to create gloomy sentiments, just listen to In The Shadows Of The Mind; in the end, this approach does not suffice for a remarkable exciting overall view because of absent surprises or melodies to kneel down.
