The current output of Pighouse Records is a split CD of these two Bulgarian Black Metal bands. Both have already a longer band history, many live activities and popularity within the Bulgarian scene, but quite unknown outside their country. These bands deserve more!
DARK MOON RISING – feat. Niki Velev, who is playing in almost five Bulgarian bands – offer melodic and polyphone Black Metal, which remembers older Borknagar works. There are many leads, solos, but also beautiful primitive riffs and majestic choirs.
Unfortunately the guys use a very bad drum machine. The production is OK and the band also shows great (sometimes progressive) arrangements and the fact that a melodic black metal band doesn’t needs any keyboards. The anthem-like song Stigmatic Signs carries all the spirit from the band within.
PRIMITIVE ANGEL GOSPODEN (the last word means “divine” in Bulgarian) play more raw and aggressive black metal with sacral keys which support the blizzards very well.
This band from the ultimate Bulgarian south plays black metal even colder than some Scandinavian group. Soul Redeeming Talk With Satan includes also a very shamanic and ritual vocals part.
Both are great Bulgarian bands and when they abolish the fucking drum machine, there will be no problem for them to reach the world wide underground.
