I
was really looking forward to listen to the newest work of the Black
Metal combo DARK FUNERAL and now I'm holding it
in my hands! It's called De Profundis Clamavi Ad Te
Domine and is one of the best live-CDs I've ever heard.
There are 15 (!) tracks on it, which are even the best songs of
DARK FUNERAL. I've heard very much about some of
their gigs, but I couldn't see them live yet. I've always been told,
how awkward they are on stage, but I don't have to watch them, I
just have to listen to them (HAHA).
The CD starts with a short and rather evil introduction - and during
this intro, you can already hear the numerous fans screaming the
band's name. That's the first thing I recognized, because I think
it's very important to hear the audience's voices on the CD, otherwise
I wouldn't even listen to it. After the intro the guys of DARK
FUNERAL start with the cult-track The Arrival Of Satans
Empire. With bombastic power and fine and brutal bass lines
they begin the full devastation. It's well-known, that speed is
a very important factor of DARK FUNERAL songs and
it's not different on the new CD. But you'll hear immediately the
strong triggered bass-drums and snare. But that doesn't really degrade
the songs. The sound is extremely good for a live-CD and all instruments
are well specifiable. Besides many classics, such as The Arrival
Of Satans Empire or Hail Murder, you'll find some
very nice and fully convincing new track in the old DARK
FUNERAL style, which will blast away your brain! In my
opinion Hail Murder is the best, strongest and most powerful
track on this disk and it's also the peak level of De
Profundis Clamavi Ad Te Domine. So, you'll reach the
end of this CD again, and not until the CD finished I recognized,
that it's actually never getting boring or hard to listen to. Apart
from that De Profundis Clamavi Ad Te Domine is a good opportunity
for those who didn't deal with DARK FUNERAL yet,
to try this out this CD, because you can build up a rather good
image of what kind of music DARK FUNERAL are playing.
All-Time DARK FUNERAL Fans will surely buy this
album and for everyone else it's also recommendable.
