An objective view to the hearing senses I took notice how this band has the feel of Portugal’s own Desire meets Norway’s Dimmu Borgir. Really not a bad combination, cause both have a common ground of expressive hatred to be loved. One thing both share a common ground are Shagrath-like vocals. Man, talk about what Shag’s voice can do to one woman! ;) *lights up a cigarette*. Behold the numinous name of DARK FORTRESS. Asides the apparent characteristics this band is one of dark interludes of cold preservation. Catching the essence so lost by groups of this type, DARK FORTRESS remains a true onslaught of mysterious textures combined with melodic malevolence. Touching in a sinister significant manner for which such emotions can be felt from A Midnight Poem, an intense filled melody infused with sadness echoing the core of being. Music arrangement of this tune is structured perfectly. Beautifully harmonious is the short lived instrumental piece of Vanitas…No Horizons. As for the rest Stab Wounds it is a stunning collection of musical divine sensory captivating the listener to the point of self renewed poignant discovery. DARK FORTRESS paints eerie images swept with emotional filled guitar harmonies blessed with a vibrant filled rhythm section cascading with the intense current of vocals. Creating such an arrangement musically DARK FORTRESSStab Wounds is an album overall that is astonishing well accomplished.
