The ham moans
again, and this better than I imagined. Seems so that Glenn DANZIG
would give a present to himself to his 55th anniversary (* June
23 1955): with a special kind of rejuvenation. Vocals at its best,
he yowls, moans, complains, screams and rocks through Deth
Red Sabaoth like in his best days nearly. Once the latest
records were greet with smiles, negative critics and frown, the
dark Metal is revived by style-elements of former heydays. The
actual longplayer is in the first three albums shadow of course,
but having Tommy Victor (Prong), Johnny Kelly (Type O Negative)
and Steve Zing (Samhain) aboard they are the proved recipe for
reinvigorated sound. Some tracks could go well a bad deal if there
wouldn’t thunder in the asstight soli or the drums caring
a bone-dry atmosphere. Rebel Spirits is a parade example
for it – 3 minutes shilly-shally before Tommy Victor circles
the hammer. Then there are songs on Deth Red Sabaoth,
which are beyond help and songs killing at the same line. The
spaciest drug will ignite an absolute trip-disaster when Black
Candy is played in the background while drugged. On the other
hand the rocker called Ju Ju Bone is to place in the DANZIG
top class – a track that will be the main attraction in
every Rodriguez or Tarantino movie. Night Star Hel is the
perfect oppressive elevator track on the way straight down to
hell. With this track in ears every determined traveler knows
what to expect. If the 3 minute track Pyre Of Souls Pt. 1,
the lyrics are composed of a and o only, would be played in the
lift instead of Night Star Hel, one would doze off just
before arriving at hell’s entrance surely. All in all it
pleasures me like the Elvis from hell challenges and bethinks
of his strengths instead of drowning in experiments. He has to
continue in that way the next years, the DANZIG.
